The Krea-Jugendclub from Refrath, Germany, has been honoured with the Young Europe Award at the 11th Youth.Kultur.Preis NRW for their innovative project, "CREATE!". The award recognises initiatives that foster intercultural exchange, creativity, and community involvement among young people.

The project took place during the autumn holidays in 2025 and involved 37 young people from the Krea-Jugendclub. The focus was on helping young people understand what it means to be self-effective through creative and cultural activities. The project spanned music, dance, and art, providing a platform for the participants to express their creativity.

The "CREATE!" project stood out for its impact in encouraging youth participation, promoting cultural diversity, and offering a platform for young talents to flourish. The project was one of ten projects from eight cities in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) that were awarded out of 151 applications.

The project's strong content-related engagement and international cooperation, which included young people from Bergisch Gladbach, Liverpool, and Florence, also impressed the jury. The project was endowed with a prize of 1,500 euros.

The award ceremony for the Youth.Kultur.Preis NRW took place within the framework of the state-wide youth art and culture festival SEE YOU. The Youth Culture Prize is supported by the Ministry for Children, Youth, Family, Equality, Flight, and Integration of the state of NRW. The project carriers for the youth culture prize are the LKD (LAG Cultural Pedagogical Services / Youth Art Schools NRW e.V.) and the state association LKJ (State Association for Cultural Youth Work NRW e.V.).

The Krea-Jugendclub's dance and music show at the SEE YOU festival received an enthusiastic response from the audience. The performance, which was a 25-minute production, showcased the participants' creativity and hard work throughout the project.

The Young Europe Award is a testament to the Krea-Jugendclub's commitment to fostering a positive and creative environment for young people. The project sets an important sign, emphasising that everyone can make a positive contribution to youth culture in NRW and beyond.

The Krea-Jugendclub's project, "CREATE!", not only fostered intercultural exchange among young people but also encouraged outdoor-living and a lifestyle that promotes creativity, as some activities were based on music, dance, and art, which were carried out during the holidays and even included international cooperation. Alongside this, the home-and-garden sector could be inspired by the self-effective strategies used by the project to engage young people and nurture their talents.
