Witch broom travel organized voluntarily by LPV Rhön in Fischbach on August 25, 2025
On Saturday, August 16, 2025, nature enthusiasts, hikers, and volunteers of all ages are invited to join a special event aimed at preserving the stunning Hexenpfad trail in Fischbach, Germany. This picturesque trail, ranked third among Germany's most beautiful hiking trails in 2024, is at risk of becoming overgrown, and your help is needed to maintain its beauty.
The event, organised by the Landschaftspflegeverband "Thüringer Rhön" e.V./Natura 2000-Station "Rhön", offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the local environment while enjoying a guided nature tour and land maintenance tasks.
To participate, you can register online at www.regiocrowd.com, send an email to [email protected], or call 03694620656. Registration closes on August 13, 2025, and spaces are limited to 20 participants (excluding children).
The event takes place from approximately 10 am to 2 pm. The meeting point is at the Hexenpfad parking lot at Schullandheim, located at Fischbach Bergstraße 15, 36452 Fischbach.
Appropriate clothing and footwear are required for the event. Participants are asked to bring their own work gloves, pruning shears, and saws for land maintenance tasks. A 30-minute nature tour introducing dry grassland slopes is included in the event.
Coffee, cake, water, and homemade apple juice are provided at the top of the trail to keep volunteers energised throughout the day.
The LPV Rhön is seeking volunteers to help maintain the trail and preserve the habitat for the mountain witch and other species. The mountain witch, a local legend, is said to reside in Fischbach.
So, if you love nature and are aged 18 or older, join us on August 16 to make a difference and help preserve one of Germany's most beautiful hiking trails.
