Mainz, Germany, is set to host an additional bike coding action in August 2025, as announced by the Allgemeine Deutsche Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) Mainz-Bingen e.V. This initiative aims to enhance bike security in the city, following a decrease in bike thefts due to nationwide coding actions.

The first event, scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, will take place at the Mainz Environmental Center (Mainzer Umweltladen) from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The location is at Steingasse 3-9, 55116 Mainz. This event is organized by the ADFC, as confirmed in the earlier announcement.

Interested parties are required to bring their bike, a key for removing the battery (for pedelecs), any other special keys for theft protection, the bike's purchase receipt, a coding order in duplicate, and a valid ID.

For those who wish to apply for membership on-site, the coding will be provided free of charge. Registration can be done by calling 06131 - 12 21 21 or by emailing [email protected]. Alternatively, registration and inquiries for the August 9, 2025, event at Mainz Central Station can be sent to [email protected]. More information and the form for the August 9 event can be found on the ADFC Mainz-Bingen website.

The Mainz and Mainz-Bingen Communal Waste Management (KAW) will cover a portion of the cost for the first 15 registrations, up to 5 euros each. The regular fee for the bike coding is 10 euros for ADFC members and 15 euros for non-members.
