Unterbach town now serves as the administrative center
The Carnival Committee of Unterbach has announced its prince and prince consort pair for the upcoming session, ending a year of absence. Johannes Bremkens and his husband Dieter Müller will assume these roles, bringing back the tradition's pomp and ceremony.
Left to right: Klaus Hammer, the adjutant, Johannes Bremkens and Dieter Müller, the future prince and prince consort, and the Carnival Committee's executive board, including President Philipp Simon, Treasurer Jens Barkemeyer, and Business Manager Daniel Hein, posed together on Saturday, August 5.
Johannes Bremkens admitted feeling a void without the traditional prince and princess pair: "We love Unterbach and its carnival too much to endure another year without them." The association welcomed their application and found it fortuitous. According to Business Manager Daniel Hein, "The two came as saviors in the nick of time for us." The choice was met with general approval, and the Carnival Committee members were pleasantly surprised with the selection.
With the appointment, Bremkens, who previously served as Johannes I with Sandra Lieverscheidt as the highest Narren authority ten years ago, will reign as Johannes II. His husband, Dieter Müller, will assume the title of Prince Consort. The two met on New Year's Eve of 1978/79 in Krefeld, moved into a shared house in Unterbach in 1987, have been registered partners since 2005, and married in 2019. After 45 years, they will soon be crowned together. Bremkens disclosed they would prefer the 2023/24 session to start immediately, but they must wait until the Hoppeditz wake, when they will be crowned alongside the children's prince and princess.
The motto for Unterbach's carnival session is "In the donkey land, it's going round, because Unterbachers celebrate colorful." Roughly 100 appearances are expected for Prince Johannes II and Prince Consort Dieter during the session. While specific details about their roles in the upcoming session have not been disclosed, the couple's previous experience and deep roots in the village indicate that they will play significant roles in leading the festivities and events.
- Johannes Bremkens and Dieter Müller, the upcoming princes of Unterbach, will not only contribute to the revival of the carnival's traditional pomp and ceremony but also extend their influence to areas of lifestyle, fashion-and-beauty, home-and-garden, and relationships, given their shared 45-year journey as partners.
- With their passion for Unterbach extending beyond just the carnival, it is expected that Johannes Bremkens and Prince Consort Dieter Müller will introduce pet-friendly activities and initiatives, adding a new dimension to the upcoming carnival session.
- As the new princes of Unterbach, Johannes Bremkens and Dieter Müller, with their admirable community spirit, will strive to create a more inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for various demographics, fostering stronger relationships within the village and the broader carnival community.
