UK Boosts Rural Transport: You.Smart.Thing Gets £150k for Demand-Responsive Tool
The UK government has allocated £1.2m to eight innovative projects aiming to improve rural transport. You.Smart.Thing is among the recipients, set to develop a digital tool for shared, demand-responsive transport in Warwickshire. The scheme aims to boost rural wellbeing, support jobs, and stimulate local economies.
Connected Places Catapult's CEO, Erika Lewis, has welcomed the eight companies onto the Rural Transport Accelerator. Each project receives £150,000 and will be trialled in different rural areas across the UK.
Alchera Technologies, for instance, will use data insights to create a behavioural travel model for Norfolk County Council. UrbanTide, on the other hand, will map rural hospital patient journeys to enhance transport services near Fife. Civil Water Management plans to install recycled tyre drainage systems for safer cycling in Milton Keynes.
The third annual CiTTi Awards, celebrating achievements in sustainable transport planning, will be held on 26 November 2024 in London. These projects, including You.Smart.Thing's digital tool, are expected to significantly improve rural transport services and contribute to the UK's sustainable transport goals.
