Wasted by Potato Head x Max Lamb Collection 001: A Sustainable Homeware Revolution

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Bali-based lifestyle brand Potato Head and British designer Max Lamb have launched Wasted by Potato Head x Max Lamb Collection 001. This sustainable homeware line, unveiled in 2025, transforms local waste from Bali into functional and artistic home items.

The creative process for the Wasted collection was a collaborative effort between Max Lamb and the local community. Every item in the collection is made from waste materials, such as recycled HDPE plastic, composite materials like Styrofoam and oyster shells, old hotel linens turned into dyed fabric, broken glass reimagined through mouth blowing techniques, and more.

Max Lamb, known for experimental and process-driven design, worked with local Balinese artisans using traditional crafts such as weaving, glassblowing, and ceramic glazing to create unique, hand-made pieces. The collection features material families like recycled plastics, mouth-blown glass, refillable candles made from used cooking oils, hand-woven bamboo, and reclaimed hotel linens.

The project is rooted in Potato Head’s “Good Times, Do Good” philosophy and Bali’s 99.5% landfill diversion goal. It reflects five years of research into closed-loop systems, highlighting the importance of locality, material provenance, and human craftsmanship.

The Wasted by Potato Head x Max Lamb Collection 001 debuted online on August 4, 2025, and was available in select stores from August 8, 2025. Items showcase a distinctive aesthetic, often patchworked with colorful recycled plastics, underscoring their one-of-a-kind nature. Pieces range from stools, benches, and tables to architectural elements adorning Potato Head Beach Club and hotel in Seminyak, Bali.

The collection was designed to support Potato Head's way of living and the needs of its operation, including furniture for rooms and glass for bars. The brand's initiative, Wasted, is aligned with Potato Head's philosophy of "Good Times, Do Good".

Max Lamb emphasized the responsibility designers have to justify every product and celebrate the knowledge and hands that shape materials, making Wasted by Potato Head a replicable blueprint for sustainable, circular design rooted in cultural and environmental respect.

The hotel's Community Waste Project has expanded its environmental impact to the entire island of Bali. Desa Potato Head has evolved to become an all-encompassing creative and cultural destination, ranked 21st in the World's 50 Best Hotels list. The debut homeware range will be stocked at select stores globally such as Beams (Japan), Salvo (Hong Kong) and Haven (Belgium) on August 15.

Potato Head Beach Club, a part of Desa Potato Head, opened in 2010 with a striking teak shutter facade. Over the years, the brand has overhauled its operations to become more sustainable and regenerative, setting a new standard for environmental responsibility in the hospitality industry. The Wasted Collection 001 turns hotel and local waste streams into creative, sustainable homeware through innovative design and skilled artisanal practices, advancing both environmental goals and local craftsmanship in Bali.
