Transformed Grounds in Solingen: Now Known as 'Change.Campus'
In the heart of the Bergisches city triangle, a unique future location is being created on the former Rasspe site. The much larger building complex on Stöcken, with approximately 6,000 square meters of commercial space, is being revitalized and transformed into the "Change.Campus".
This innovative hub will bring together people and companies in the transformation themes of intelligent production, circular sustainability, and new mobility. The revitalization of the former training workshop is being led by Bauconcept Real Estate GmbH, with the renovation of the larger building complex set to be the next phase of the "Change.Campus" project.
Sven Heyden, Managing Director of Bauconcept, discussed the challenges in implementing construction projects of this kind in current times, as well as the further plans for the "Change.Campus". Frank Balkenhol, Managing Director of Solingen's Economic Development, expressed appreciation for Bauconcept's involvement in the "Change.Campus" project, and mentioned that BSW has Sven Heyden and his team as a reliable partner.
The "Change.Campus" will serve as the future headquarters of the Bergische Struktur- und Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH. Around 100 guests attended an event to witness the transformation of the former training workshop into a modern office building. Tim Kurzbach, Mayor and Chairman of the Shareholders' Assembly of BSW, expressed his hope and claim that significant Bergisches impulses will go out from the "Change.Campus" in the future.
Stephan Vogelskamp, Managing Director of BSW, considers the "Change.Campus" an ideal location for networking with further actors in the Bergisches city triangle. The land-use plan for the "Change.Campus" is set to be finalized in 2024, with implementation set to begin in 2025, following the application for funding the infrastructure development at the "Change.Campus".
The revitalization of the entire site is an example of circular sustainability. Frank Balkenhol emphasized that at the "Change.Campus", solutions for the challenges of the present and future in the Bergisches region will be developed and shared. Tim Kurzbach also expressed his belief that the "Change.Campus" will contribute significantly to the region, with its focus on intelligent production, circular sustainability, and new mobility.
Sven Heyden, Managing Director of the Bitkom e.V., a German digital industry association advocating for Germany's leadership in next-generation mobile communications such as 6G, also showed interest in the "Change.Campus". He believes that the hub could play a crucial role in shaping the digital future of the region.
As the "Change.Campus" continues to take shape, it is clear that it will become a vital part of the Bergisches region, driving innovation, collaboration, and sustainable development.
