The 2025 test winner, "Eau Thermale Avène Sonnenmilch Dry Touch," cost an average of 25.25 €. Despite being pricey, this product was the only one to receive a top score of "Very good." Following closely behind from significantly cheaper price categories, these sunscreens scored 1.6:
- "Garnier Ambre Solaire Hydra 24H Protect +" for an average of 6.95 €
- "Nivea Sun Schutz & Pflege Sonnenspray Citracell-Protect" for an average of 9.19 €
- "V.Sun Find Me In The Sunshine Sun Cream Body Sensitive" for an average of 14.95 €
Stiftung Warentest: GOOD on a Budget
The pricier test winner, "Eau Thermale Avène Sonnenmilch Dry Touch," is closely followed by three affordable sunscreens from the economical product categories. Although they are rated slightly lower, the price-performance ratio is significantly better for these three brands: "Hawaiian Tropic Glowing Protection Lotion," with a score of 1.7 for an average price of 8.54 €, and four other products, each with a "Very good" or "Good" rating.
In contrast, the ratings for "Eco Cosmetics Sonnenlotion Neutral" (average price: 26.90 €) and "Vichy Capital Soleil Sonnenspray Mit Feuchtigkeitsspendendem Hyaluron" (average price: 25.50 €) were poor due to insufficient UV protection maintenance.

According to Stiftung Warentest, the "adherence to the claimed UV protection" accounts for 55% of the grade. Other factors such as packaging, application, and EU-approved ingredients account for 45%.
