Toyota RAV4: The World's Best-Selling Vehicle Gets a New Lease of Life

The Toyota RAV4, the world's most sold vehicle from automotive giant Toyota, is set to make a splash in the new year with the release of its sixth generation. This new model will bring a fresh design line, enhanced digital functions, and a software-defined vehicle experience, thanks to the new software platform Arene.

In the realm of hybrid technology, the RAV4 continues to lead the way. The plug-in hybrid version offers an impressive electric range of up to 100 kilometers, while the full hybrid version, without a plug, benefits from improvements in transmission, power, and battery technology.

For those seeking a sportier ride, the GR-Sport version of the RAV4 is now available. This model comes with 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels, spoilers, modified front/rear bumpers, and a reinforced rear axle. Inside, red accents and corresponding logos add a touch of sportiness. Passengers can enjoy two 12.9- and 12.3-inch displays for a premium multimedia experience.

However, the GR-Sport version does not offer a plug-in hybrid option, nor does it specify one for the European market. Similarly, wireless updates for its digital functions are not available in the GR-Sport version.

The new RAV4's digital functions extend to areas such as safety, multimedia, and connectivity. Notably, the mastermind behind the new Toyota RAV4 PHEV's Geo-Fencing technology is DENSO.

The front-wheel-drive of the hybrid RAV4 delivers 183 PS, while the all-wheel-drive delivers 191 PS. For those opting for the plug-in hybrid RAV4, a 50 kW charging device is available for fast charging.

The RAV4 has been a global success, with over 2.5 million units sold worldwide. In Europe, the sixth generation of the RAV4 will offer both a serial hybrid and a plug-in hybrid option.
