In the wake of last year's product recalls, The Laundress, a premium laundry care brand, has made a comeback. They announced the relaunch of their business this week, introducing a brand-new collection of products.

Their Instagram post last week sparked quite the buzz, teasing the release of a fresh product line on June 12. A peek at their website reveals an array of laundry cleaning essentials like detergent and stain remover, all ready for purchase. Many of the product descriptions mention a "novel formula crafted from eco-friendly ingredients." Safety data sheets are also accessible for those interested in learning more about the products' safety aspects.

Posting on Instagram, The Laundress expressed gratitude to their supporters, stating, "We're eternally grateful for your unwavering support as we strive to perfect our fabric care formulas, maintaining the same delightful scents you've grown to adore."

To enhance product safety, The Laundress has been working tirelessly to revamp their safety standards. These new standards include rigorous testing procedures, exceeding those set by the U.S. industry, as stated by CEO Clemens Herrmann.

Herrmann shared, "Our dedicated team sacrificed sleep to make this relaunch a reality. We carefully selected which products should be part of our initial offerings, focusing on a core collection that encapsulates the laundry expertise that sets The Laundress apart. By focusing on a limited assortment of best-sellers, we were able to incorporate valuable customer feedback and meticulously guarantee the exceptional quality of each product within an accelerated timeframe."

Tracing back to November 2021, The Laundress started issuing safety notices regarding certain items possibly containing elevated bacteria levels. In December, they voluntarily recalled several products, including most of their fabric conditioners due to the presence of bacteria.

In April, The Laundress announced another recall of their fabric conditioners across the U.S. and Canada due to the presence of the carcinogen ethylene oxide. Approximately 800,000 units were affected, with 730,000 of those having been recalled in December for a separate reason. Affected customers were given the option for refunds.

Launched in 2004 by Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd, this prestigious laundry brand was later acquired by Unilever in 2019. Unilever's 2022 annual report revealed that The Laundress's product recall and market withdrawal cost the company €89 million (approximately $96.9 million).
