Taking part in the initiative aids in building a fresh abode in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
In the beautiful city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, notable improvements have been made in public spaces since 2017, thanks to the federal project "Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment." This nationwide initiative, part of the larger "Infrastructure for Life" national project, aims to boost the quality, accessibility, and aesthetic appeal of urban environments across Russia.
The city has seen significant transformations under this project. Key improvements include the renovation and modernization of parks and squares, upgrading pedestrian zones, creation of recreational zones, beautification and landscaping, and infrastructure improvements. Public parks have been revitalized with new landscaping, walking paths, seating areas, and lighting, making them more inviting and safe for residents and visitors. Sidewalks and pedestrian crossings have been improved to ensure better accessibility and safety, encouraging walking and outdoor activities.
Spaces for leisure activities, such as playgrounds for children, sports facilities, and outdoor fitness areas, have been developed or enhanced. The addition of trees, shrubs, flower beds, and street furniture has contributed to a more attractive urban environment. Public amenities such as benches, trash bins, informational signage, and public restrooms have been installed or upgraded.
These improvements have helped to create a more comfortable, functional, and attractive public space, which supports greater community engagement and enhances the quality of life in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The project’s ongoing work aligns with broader federal efforts to promote sustainable urban development and livability across Russian cities.
Currently, the city is hosting a voting process to decide the public territory to be improved in 2026 as part of the federal project. Residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky aged 14 and above are eligible to vote. They are offered two options to choose from: a green zone near house No. 1 on Kiridicheva Street, and a zone between the "Statupravlenie" bus stop and house No. 12 on Kronotskaya Street.
Assistance is available from volunteers at the Single Window Service at Leningradskaya Street, 74/1. Voting can be done online through the "Gosuslugi" portal (https://pos.gosuslugi.ru/lkp/fkgs/home/) and the "Gosuslugi. Resolving Together" mobile app. The voting process will continue until June 12.
The city's Mayor, Yevgeny Belayev, emphasizes that the project provides an opportunity to enhance the city's appearance. In addition, plans include pedestrian paths, lighting, benches, and trash cans in the green zone near house No. 1 on Kiridichiva Street, and paths, benches, and trash cans in the zone between the "Statupravlenie" bus stop and house No. 12 on Kronotskaya Street.
Since 2017, more than 10 public spaces have been improved in the city as part of the project. In 2025, a pedestrian crossing from the lower Horizon to Victory Park is planned to be built, following the highest support from the residents during the spring 2024 voting. Also, in 2025, a viewing platform on Bateraynaya Street is planned to be equipped, selected as a result of the 2018 vote.
The voting process in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky has been happening for several years, and over nine thousand people have participated so far. By participating, residents can help shape the future of their city's public spaces, making them more comfortable, functional, and attractive for everyone.
The ongoing voting process in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky allows residents to choose between two options for future outdoor-living spaces: a green zone near house No. 1 on Kiridicheva Street or a zone between the "Statupravlenie" bus stop and house No. 12 on Kronotskaya Street, which aligns with the project's goal of enhancing lifestyle and promoting home-and-garden activities.
