Summer Reading Club at the local library has ceased operations during the holidays
The much-anticipated closing event of the Summer Vacation Reading Club is fast approaching, set to take place on September 19, 2025. This annual event, held at the library centre in Höschbach, has been a successful initiative in encouraging reading among young people aged 10-14 since its inception in 2010.
The Summer Vacation Reading Club, an initiative of the Bavarian Library Association and designed by the State Specialist Office for Public Library Work at the Bavarian State Library, offers a prize draw for active club members at the closing event. Local sponsors provide attractive prizes for this draw, making it an exciting culmination of the summer reading journey.
Throughout the summer, students in grades 5-8 have been encouraged to read a variety of books, including crime, action, comedy, fantasy, romance, and more. Each book read earns a stamp in a summer journal, and all active club members automatically participate in the prize draw at the closing event.
The library centre, which usually operates from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Fridays, will be closed on September 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM due to the closing event of the Summer Vacation Reading Club.
New books are acquired each year for the event, ensuring a fresh selection for the young readers to explore. The club aims to inspire even 'reluctant readers' to pick up a book and embark on a journey of imagination and learning.
