Sonthofen: The Wertacher Hoernle
Starting near Sonthofen on the B310 at Unterjoch, this 9km hike offers an ascent of 620m and takes 3.5 hours. The journey begins at Obergschwend parking lot, through the Hoernlesee, and ends with a breathtaking lake view and a mountain backdrop. Refuel along the way at the Buchel Alpe, open Wednesday to Sunday.
Sonthofen: The Gruenten
If you're up for another adventure in 3.5 hours, venture out from the Kammeregger Weg parking lot in Sonthofen. After a short 30-minute walk, you'll reach the Alpe Kammeregg, serving cold refreshments Tuesday to Sunday. Continue your trek to the Gruentenhuettte before reaching the summit, where you'll find a poignant war memorial.
Oberstaufen: The Salmaser Hohe
For the third tip, we head to Oberstaufen. The starting point is the parking lot opposite the Schullandheim in Wiedemannsdorf. In just 1.5 hours, hikers can reach the Summit of the Salmaser Hohe and enjoy the spectacular view of the large Alpsee.
