Story of the Time Turner - Potential Solution for the Swamped Holy Cross Scholar?

At Holy Cross, the legend of the exorcism room and the time turner has become a popular topic among students. While the origins of this tale remain a mystery, it has certainly captured the imagination of many.

On April 14th, admitted students were welcomed to Holy Cross for Admitted Students Day. As they explored the campus, they may have wondered if they too could find the elusive time turner, a device that could potentially increase their own levels of overcommitment.

One student who embodies the spirit of overcommitment is Kim Fetherston '22, the Chief Photographer at the college newspaper. An English and Environmental Studies major, Kim has held various photography positions at the newspaper since Fall 2018. An article about her can be found in the "Profile" section, titled "Overcommitted but not defeated: Photographer signs up for yet another event."

Interestingly, a similar story unfolded in the past. Mary Landis '27, the News Editor, was said to have found a time turner in the exorcism room at Holy Cross. Her use of the time turner allowed her to attend multiple classes, clubs, and meetings, do homework, and sleep. However, her professor, who saw her in two places at the same time, discovered her secret and warned her against using the time turner again.

The rumour of time turners circulating at Holy Cross is a curious one, with its origins shrouded in mystery. Some speculate that Holy Cross professors may have knowledge about these rumours, but the truth remains elusive.

As for the time turner in the exorcism room, the search continues. Students continue to hope that they might stumble upon it, but for now, the legend remains just that - a legend.

In the meantime, students like George Caldwell '24, the News Editor, reflect on habits that have benefited them in their academic and extracurricular activities. As the legend of the time turner continues to captivate the campus, students at Holy Cross continue to strive for excellence in their own ways.

  1. Students at Holy Cross, while exploring home-and-garden settings such as campus buildings and gardens, may ponder if they too could stumble upon a hidden time turner during their tenure.
  2. Many student clubs at Holy Cross, including the college newspaper, offer opportunities for students like Kim Fetherston '22 to channel their passion for various interests, and even lifestyle aspects like photography, into real-life experiences.
  3. The news of Mary Landis '27's purported discovery of a time turner in the exorcism room has spurred a wave of interest among students at Holy Cross, raising questions and discussions regarding research and historical campus events.
  4. Much like the dedication shown by student leaders like George Caldwell '24 in their academic and extracurricular commitments, many Holy Cross alumni may have found creative solutions to balance competing demands on their time, one possible example being the mythical use of a time turner.
