Shop Pop-Up on Schlossberg announces schedule for August and September
The Schwabentor pop-up store in Freiburg is set to undergo a transformation this August and September, as it becomes the "Bierle-Bar". This aperitivo bar offers a unique blend of summery drinks, local Freiburger Bierle (a regional organic beer), live electronic music, exhibitions, and engaging events for all ages.
Located in the heart of Freiburg, the Bierle-Bar is a collaborative effort between the Brauerei Ganter, a local brewery, and the innovation agency machn:. The Freiburger Bierle, the organic beer brewed directly in Freiburg, is the result of this successful partnership, which was recently awarded the Freiburger Innovationspreis 2025 on July 14.
The Bierle-Bar is part of a series of pop-up initiatives aimed at revitalizing vacant spaces in Freiburg's city centre and promoting local actors and innovative projects. The pop-up store at Schlossberg initially ran from mid-March 2025 and has been extended to August and September due to its popularity.
The project is supported by the Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe (FWTM) and funded through the federal program “Zukunftsfähige Innenstädte und Zentren” (ZIZ). FWTM collaborates with local actors to develop the pop-up store format further, creating temporary venues for trade, culture, and gastronomy.
Visitors to the Bierle-Bar can expect a space for enjoyment, discovery, and relaxation. The bar offers aperitivo drinks, the locally brewed Freiburger Bierle, and a variety of music events, including electronic beats by FUSE. Additionally, exhibitions and cultural and recreational activities are planned to ensure there is something for everyone.
