Prepping for an Update: The "Glory to Heroes" Monument in Omsk's Park of Victory

Looks like there's a shake-up coming for the "Glory to Heroes" monument on Omsk's Boulevard of Victory! On Thursday, April 3, 2025, Mayor Sergei Shlelst broke the news about the monument's redesign in his personal Telegram channel, hinting at a colorful makeover.

"For the statues on the "Glory to Heroes" memorial, a specific color scheme has been chosen. They will all be coated with a special compound that will give the figures a noble, relief-like appearance." - stressed the mayor.

Sergei Shlelst further mentioned that one of the monument's creators, sculptor Sergei Golovaneets, approved the changes as well.

You might recall that in late March 2025, residents of Omsk started to worry about the changing appearance of the monuments under restoration, suspecting they had been painted black. City Hall responded, assuring locals that the statues were actually made of black metal, and any unusual appearances were due to additional coloring agents applied.
