49th Lichterfest at Karlsruhe Zoo: A Sparkling Summer Spectacle

Get ready for an unforgettable experience as the 49th Lichterfest takes over Karlsruhe Zoo on August 22 and 23, 2025. The event, starting at 3:00 p.m. both days, promises a dazzling program suitable for all ages.

From 7:00 p.m., the zoo will be transformed into a magical wonderland, with numerous illuminated animal figures and light installations creating a mesmerizing atmosphere. Highlights include lit Gondoletta boat rides on the lakes, glowing peacocks, elephants, and more. The Gondoletta will operate until 11:00 p.m. on Friday and midnight on Saturday, offering shorter half-route trips in the evenings.

A broad gastronomic offer will be available throughout the park until 11:00 p.m., ensuring that visitors are well-fed and refreshed during their magical journey.

Ticket Information

Tickets for the Lichterfest must be purchased separately, as annual passes will not be valid during these days. Tickets can be purchased online at zoo-karlsruhe.ticketfritz.de or at the zoo ticket counters.

Pre-sale prices are as follows: - Adults: €15 (€14 online) - Reduced (seniors, students, pupils, voluntary year volunteers): €13 (€12 online) - Children (6–14 years): €7 (€6 online) - Children under 6: free - Family tickets: - Two adults + up to four children: €36.50 - One adult + up to four children: €24.50

On the event days, a surcharge of €2 applies on ticket prices purchased at the gate.

  • Swing music will be played at the South/Hbf entrance during the Lichterfest.
