Regional folk festivities kick off this Friday, promising a three-day celebration that's the largest in the region.
Anklam Hanse Festival 2025: A Celebration of Culture and Entertainment
Get ready for an exciting weekend as the Anklam Hanse Festival returns for its 20th anniversary! The much-anticipated event, guided by the municipal cultural department, is set to begin on Friday at 4 PM with a traditional three shots from the Böller cannon.
The festival will be a vibrant blend of music, sports, and family-friendly activities. Cultural groups from Anklam's partner cities will grace the stages, including a folklore group from Ustka, Poland, and "Black Roses", a youth rock band from Burlóv, Sweden. Both groups will perform on both the north and main stages.
The main stage will return to its traditional location on the sand square at the Bollwerk at the end of Burgstraße. On the 'Otto's Waterkant' festival stage, well-known DJs from the region will perform each day from Friday and Saturday at 8 PM, with special guest Nicholas Binder scheduled to appear on Friday.
However, there is a last-minute change in the program for headliner Vanessa Mai's performance. Her performance on Friday will now start at 7:30 PM instead of the originally planned 8 PM. The grand fireworks display will remain on its scheduled time of 11 PM.
Entertainment on the festival mile and accompanying program will start on Saturday at 11 AM. The sea sports club Anklam will provide live commentary and accompaniment of the rowing competitions over the loudspeakers at the north stage starting at 1 PM. The swimming competition of the water rescue service on the Peene will start at 10 AM on Saturday, followed by cutter rowing teams competing for the mayor's cup.
The family area with straw bale pool, GWA children's construction site, craft street, and bouncy castles will return to the meadow near the highway bridge. The boat parade on the Peene has been rescheduled from 7 PM to around 8:30 PM due to this program change.
An ecumenical church service of the Anklam church communities will be held on Sunday at 11 AM, followed by a lost and found auction starting at 12:30 PM. The popular rubber duck race begins at 4 PM on Sunday, with starting tickets available for purchase at the Anklam-Info in the new Ritz.
The fireworks display will be set off on the dyke on the north side of the Peene. Please note that the printed city flyers with the original program schedule still show the originally planned times. For any updates or precise timing for Vanessa Mai’s performance, we recommend checking the festival’s official website or social media closer to or during the event dates.
