Düsseldorf, Germany - The city is set to become a gastronomic haven as the Metro campus undergoes a significant transformation. The grand opening of the new culinary hotspot took place on Monday, June 30, marking the beginning of a foodie-focused journey.

Dr. Stephan Keller, Mayor of Düsseldorf, considers this development a gain for the city, highlighting the modern, open, and urban-focused design of the campus. The goal is to establish Düsseldorf as a culinary capital, with a diverse mix of uses on the Metro campus, including living, working, and supply.

Patrik Jaros, President of Bocuse d'Or Germany, will reopen "485 Grad" in mid-July, while Thomas Bühner's new fine dining restaurant "LA VIE" has already been delighting guests with its offerings. The Buchmann brothers are set to open "Casita Mexicana" featuring a young, Mexican concept at the end of August, followed by "Mamacita" with its Mexican concept.

A total of seven new culinary locations will open on the Metro campus by the end of 2026, reflecting the diversity of the industry. These new culinary concepts are seen as a real added value for adjacent neighborhoods, with restaurants playing a key role in the development of the new neighborhood.

The atrium of the Metro building has been opened to the public following extensive renovations, providing a vibrant and inviting space for the community. The new quarter with housing for around 4,000 people will be created on the current Metro site in the coming years, further enhancing the urban landscape.

However, detailed public plans concerning the culinary landscape development at Metro’s Düsseldorf campus or its role in positioning the city as a culinary capital are not widely available. Further inquiry directly with Metro AG or local Düsseldorf development authorities may be necessary to obtain such specific strategic information.

One constant on the Metro campus is "Dritan Alsela," a long-established coffee institution in the Metro Atrium, serving as a daily reminder of the campus's evolving culinary scene. The new culinary concepts on the Metro campus include high-end starred cuisine, neighborhood gastronomy, and future-oriented fast-casual concepts, promising a gastronomic adventure for all tastes.

Metro unveiled plans for this culinary hotspot on its campus at Metro Street in September 2023, signalling a strong commitment to the future of gastronomy in Düsseldorf.
