Red waterparks in Krasnoyarsk failed to meet deadlines
It seems that, unfortunately, it's looking doubtful that the promised water park on Vzletka for Krasnoyarsk's 400th birthday will materialize. With construction either moving at a snail's pace or seemingly halted altogether, the only way to indulge in the luxuries of a true metropolis might be to head to the "real capital of Siberia": Novosibirsk, which boasts both a water park and spas.
The "Equatoria" water park in the "Arena Sever" district was granted construction permission to the company "Termit" back in 2019. Construction began shortly afterward. Intended to be the first water park in Krasnoyarsk and the largest in Siberia with a construction area of 77,000 square meters and capacity for 2,800 visitors daily, it featured water attractions, various recreational zones, and a hotel complex. Estimated costs for the project amounted to 1 billion rubles.
Troubles began as early as 2021, with the project facing the risk of delay due to the necessity of revising project documentation and undergoing re-examination. According to DEA.ru, delays in the development of the project were due to the inability of local architects to meet the project's requirements, causing a 1.5-year stall. The project was subsequently handed over to federal organizations, who drastically reworked the documentation, replacing the original manufacturers of water rides and attractions with Turkish ones.
The opening date of the water park was initially planned for 2022, but was then repeatedly postponed. Among the latest projected dates was the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk in 2028.
Construction Halts
By the end of 2020, the groundwork for the water park was ready, yet since then, there have been no significant changes to the construction site. DEA visited the site during the recent holidays and observed the same piles of groundwork and a few cranes above the groundwork.
However, the company claims that the project has not been abandoned. They state that due to the current challenging conditions for the realization of such capital-intensive projects, the investor remains committed to building the water park in Krasnoyarsk and continues to explore various financing options.
DEA reached out to the city hall to inquire whether the investor has sought aid, to which they responded negatively. They claim to be unaware of the project's issues and in the Corporation for the Development of the Yenisei Siberia (the water park is one of its investment projects).
It is worth noting that the documents indicate that the completion date of the water park should be no sooner than 2030.
Though the opening of the water park before the anniversary would be a pleasant surprise - albeit not according to the original plan - there is still plenty of time, until 2030, to finish the project.
Spas by Dubensky Monument
Construction of the thermal complex beside the Dubensky Monument in Krasnoyarsk also has yet to begin. Construction permits for the project were granted to the Novosibirsk-based OOO "Mira" last year.
This project is also listed among the investment projects for the city's 400th anniversary.
The company intends to build a four-story fitness and recreation center with swimming pools, a thermal complex, dining facilities, offices, underground parking, and a transformer substation on the hill.
The original design was met with criticism due to its lack of distinctiveness, but the Novosibirskians drastically redesigned the concept to make it more consistent with the city's architecture.
Despite this, construction has yet to commence.
"Currently, we are correcting the project according to the previously expressed wishes and requirements, "commented DEA in the company. "Previously, we announced the projected opening date and are orienting ourselves towards it in our processes. As soon as the start date of the construction work is known, we will definitely provide additional information."
Given the current situation where credits have become excessively expensive, investors face difficulties in investing in any projects that do not promise quick and massive profits. And it is not far-fetched for them to go bankrupt in the process.
