"Proliferation of Wheelzia"
At the College of the Holy Cross, one residence hall stands out for its strong sense of camaraderie and community - Wheeler Hall, affectionately known as "The Wheelhouse." Residents of Wheeler approach weekends like seasoned athletes, with a shared enthusiasm that is hard to miss.
However, a rumour circulating around the campus about a secret language, Wheelzian, used exclusively by Wheeler Hall residents, remains unsubstantiated. A thorough search of academic and institutional sources did not yield any evidence to support this claim. If such a tradition exists, it appears to be a local or informal practice not publicly documented.
The residents of Wheeler have taken steps to preserve their exclusivity, and if Wheelzian does exist, it serves as a way for them to bond and keep their social activities private. This has, in turn, led to feelings of exclusion among other students, particularly those from Easy Street, another residence hall.
Meanwhile, the College of the Holy Cross Magazine continues to shine a spotlight on the College's vibrant community. Viveca Stucke '26, the Commander in Chief of Campus Gossip and the Features Editor of the Magazine, is at the forefront of this endeavour. In a recent issue, the Magazine featured an image of Wheeler Hall, adding to its allure.
In a celebration of individual achievements, a student named Average Holy Cross Student, with a major in Burnout and Overcommitment with a Minor in Gifted Kid Studies, was recognised as Crusader of the Week. Unfortunately, the student's class year or hometown was not mentioned in the article.
Elsewhere on campus, Healy Hall Council hosted the Healy Haunted House, transforming the sophomore year residence hall into a spooky-filled experience on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The event was a success, providing a thrilling Halloween experience for students.
In a separate event, Ciampi Hall was officially renamed Ciampi-Condron Hall during a special ceremony on September 7, 2024. The renaming ceremony was attended by various members of the Holy Cross community, including members of the Board of Trustees, several college deans, President Rougeau, and alumni Bob Cousy.
Despite the mystery surrounding Wheelzian, the residents of Wheeler Hall continue to radiate excitement and spread joy as they celebrate their unique community and friendship. As always, the College of the Holy Cross Magazine will continue to bring you updates on the College's dynamic community.
