Pregnancy clothing line Hatch partners with Free People's FP Movement initiative.
In a significant move, maternity apparel brand Hatch Collective has expanded its footprint in the maternity market, acquiring control of three well-established brands - Motherhood Maternity, A Pea in the Pod, and Destination Maternity. This strategic move positions Hatch Collective as a dominant player in the maternity retail market, offering a broader range of maternity apparel options.
Based in Los Angeles, Hatch Collective has built its reputation on delivering high-quality maternity wear that blends style with functionality and comfort. The brand is recognized for having key pieces that every pregnant woman should have, emphasizing both classic and trendy aesthetics.
With the acquisition, Hatch Collective aims to consolidate market presence, offering a broader range of maternity apparel options under the Hatch umbrella. This includes luxury brands like A Pea in the Pod, known for their high-end maternity wear, as well as more affordable, accessible options like Motherhood Maternity.
The latest acquisition follows the brand's collaboration with Free People's activewear brand, FP Movement. The collaboration includes 15 apparel styles for customers in the pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood stages. The collection, which ranges in price from $40 to $148, includes entirely new designs as well as iterations of some FP Movement best sellers.
Hatch's CEO, Ariane Goldman, stated that the collaboration aims to cater to mothers who want more than just functionality. She explained, "Our collaboration with FP Movement is a part of our growth and product strategy. We want to offer our customers stylish and comfortable clothing that they can wear throughout their journey of motherhood."
Following the acquisition, Hatch Collective is planning to grow by approximately 25% in 2023, following a 30% growth in 2022. The brand is also planning to host multiple launch events in key markets including Los Angeles, New York City, Austin, and Miami to introduce the collection.
Marquee Brands, the parent company of Motherhood Maternity, A Pea in the Pod, and Destination Maternity, provided a minority investment to Hatch Collective as part of the deal and gained a board seat with the new entity. However, the new arrangement establishes Hatch Collective as a separate entity from Marquee Brands.
