**Bremen to Host Maritime Week in 2025, Offering a Week-Long Celebration of Culture, Knowledge, and Entertainment**

In September 2025, Bremen, Germany, will be the epicentre of maritime culture, education, and entertainment as it hosts the Maritime Week. The nine-day event, taking place from the 13th to the 21st of September, promises an exciting blend of educational programs, cultural activities, and lively festivities.

The first phase of the Maritime Week, known as the Discovery Days (13th-18th September), will offer a wide range of events providing insights into shipping, maritime research, and lifestyle. Visitors can expect exhibitions, interactive programs, lectures, boat and city tours, sports courses, and panel discussions aimed at educating them about the oceans, maritime technology, and the importance of water for Bremen.

The grand finale of the Maritime Week will be the Festival Weekend (19th-21st September), which will transform the Schlachte River into a bustling hub of culinary delights, music, and numerous activities. Highlights of the weekend include the Light Ride (Light Parade) on the 20th, the Dragon Boat Race (Dragon Boat Cup) offering thrilling water sports competitions, water sports demonstrations, live music programs, and the Research Mile event spanning the 20th and 21st, showcasing ongoing maritime studies and innovations.

In addition to these events, a Maritime Flea Market is expected to take place on Sunday, the 21st of September, from 10:00 to 17:00, between the Bürgermeister-Smidt-Bridge and the youth hostel. The flea market will feature various maritime treasures, accessories, equipment, gift items, and bargains related to boats or ships, supplementing the offerings with antiques, bric-a-brac, second-hand items, and handmade art.

The entire event is organized by CityInitiative Bremen Werbung e.V., supported by WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH. With an expected attendance of over 70,000 visitors during the festival weekend and the Sunday shopping, the Maritime Week aims to create a distinctive maritime atmosphere throughout Bremen’s city centre.
