Osnabrück Launches Fallen Fruit Recycling Service

Osnabrück residents can now dispose of fallen fruits responsibly and sustainably. Starting August 2nd, 2025, the Osnabrücker Service Betrieb (OSB) offers a service for hobby gardeners to drop off fallen fruits every Saturday. Fruits can be taken to the waste management center Piesberg from 9 am to 12 pm on Saturdays. Alternatively, extra containers will be available at six locations across the city from 11 am to 5 pm. For those with smaller amounts, the household biotonne or garden compost pile can be used. However, please ensure the fruits are free of contaminants like plastic, leaves, stones, or soil. The OSB also provides a free collection service for larger quantities every Saturday until November 1, 2025. Unspoiled fallen fruits can be taken to nearby cider presses for juicing. It's important to note that the waste management center Piesberg will be closed on Saturday, October 3, 2025, due to the German Unity Day holiday. This service facilitates quick transport to bio-composting facilities or biogas plants, helping to reduce waste and support local recycling efforts. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this service to dispose of fallen fruits responsibly.
