Operational status now applies to the Fontaine field located on Schloßstraße
In the heart of Bensberg, a district of Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne, a new attraction has sprung up, adding a touch of charm to the city centre. The Fontänenfeld, a water fountain nestled in front of the Schlossgalerie, is now operational.
This innovative fountain is part of the Integrated Action Concept (InHK) Bensberg, a coordinated urban development initiative aimed at revitalising specific areas within Bensberg. The project involves collaboration among local government, planners, and community members to improve infrastructure, public spaces, and urban life quality.
The Fontänenfeld is not just an eye-catching addition to the streetscape. It serves as an additional attraction on Castle Street, providing cooling in the shopping mile as a measure against climate change. The fountain offers varied water games, with variable adjustable pressures allowing for different fountain heights, creating various, multi-stage fountain images.
The water supply for the Fontänenfeld comes from an underground pump chamber in an environmentally friendly closed water cycle. The pump chamber, frost-proof and with a capacity of up to 8,000 liters, supplies three nozzle groups with up to 2.5 bar via three pumps. Chlorination, filtration, and de-icing ensure optimal water quality in the Fontänenfeld.
The Fontänenfeld consists of eleven LED-lit nozzles flush with the ground. Ragnar Migenda, the First Deputy Mayor, attended the inauguration of the fountain field, marking another important milestone in the renovation of Castle Street.
