Nordhorn's Bikepark Kicks Off with Community Planting for Erosion Control and Biodiversity
The city of Nordhorn has initiated a notable environmental and recreational project. On September 20, 2025, a work event was held to plant the slopes of the Bikepark Nordhorn. Many young BMX and mountain bike enthusiasts, along with their parents, joined in to support the initiative.
The planting is a crucial step to secure the slopes and prevent erosion of the topsoil, especially during heavy rain. The 'Bikepark Nordhorn' is set to be further upgraded with this slope planting. Heinz Silies, from the Office of Urban Development within the city administration, led the project.
To preserve regional biodiversity, the planting used seeds sourced locally. This decision will help maintain the area's unique flora and contribute to a greener, more sustainable Bikepark Nordhorn.
The slope planting at Bikepark Nordhorn serves a dual purpose: it secures the slopes, preventing erosion, and promotes regional biodiversity by using locally sourced seeds. The work event, attended by enthusiastic young cyclists and their parents, demonstrates the community's support for this environmental initiative.
