Milan-based MoscaPartners unveil a poetic journey delving into the theme of 'migration'
MoscaPartners Variations: A Sensory Exploration of Innovative Design at Milan Design Week 2025
The MoscaPartners group exhibition, held at the historic Palazzo Litta during Milan Design Week 2025, showcases a curated collection of experimental and innovative design concepts. One of the most intriguing exhibitions within this program is the Tactile Baltics, which focuses on tactile, sensory experiences in contemporary Baltic design.
Tactile Baltics, a collaboration between Adrenalina, the Museo Tattile Statale Omero, and the Francesco Cavazza Institute for the Blind, aims to challenge perceptions of design by encouraging hands-on engagement and emphasising the materiality of design. This exhibition is a testament to the power of design as a medium for dialogue, empathy, and shared futures, aligning with the overall theme of 'Migrations'.
The exhibition features multiple Baltic designers presenting tactile, experimental works, demonstrating a collaborative and regionally focused approach. Other exhibitions under MoscaPartners at Palazzo Litta include contemporary design projects such as Fico’s "Play", which offers bold and joyful concepts.
The MoscaPartners exhibitions have garnered significant acclaim and attracted large visitor numbers, underscoring their impact in promoting new design perspectives and regional creativity on a global stage. For instance, Tactile Baltics drew over 52,000 visitors during its eight-day run at Milan Design Week, making it one of the most memorable shows at the event.
In addition to Tactile Baltics, other notable exhibits at MoscaPartners Variations include:
- Adrenalina's modular sofa, designed with accessibility in mind, invites visitors to experience design through touch, memory, and imagination.
- Byoung Cho, a Korean architect, presents 'Nobody Owns the Land: Earth, Forest, Mahk', a site-specific installation that explores the concept of land ownership.
- Italian brand CultEvo exhibits 'Cultifutura', a vertical farming concept for everyday life, demonstrating the blending of different ideas and cultural exchange.
- Marrimor, a Canadian duo, showcases a new interpretation of the 'Toof' tables, inspired by Vancouver's rain puddles.
- MoscaPartners, in collaboration with MCA Design, presents 'Memè', a contemporary credenza that reflects on the migration of memory and nostalgia.
- Fico, from Bangladesh, exhibits 'Woven Air', a work that celebrates heritage through geometric wood panels and handwoven Jamdani fabrics.
- Luc Druez's installation, 'Golden Light Cage', developed with LcD Textile, is a visually striking luminous web made from reclaimed materials and semi-precious metal threads.
- The installation includes clay bowls crafted in the tradition of Korean mahksabal ceramics, each unique and imperfect.
- The installation, titled 'The Field', is made of finely crushed red Verona marble and represents a vast field of sand, inviting visitors to take off their shoes and wander.
The founder of MoscaPartners hopes visitors leave inspired by the aesthetics and stories behind each project, reflecting on how design shapes our relationship with space and society. MoscaPartners Variations at Palazzo Litta continues until 13 April 2025.
- Despite the focus on contemporary design projects, the Tactile Baltics exhibition within MoscaPartners Variations at Milan Design Week 2025 offers a unique home-and-garden experience, encouraging hands-on engagement with the tactile and sensory aspects of design, demonstrating a shared future through dialogue and empathy.
- Upon visiting MoscaPartners Variations at the Palazzo Litta during Milan Design Week 2025, one can find various exhibits that infuse traditional crafts into modern lifestyles, such as the Canadian duo Marrimor's interpretation of the Toof tables inspired by Vancouver's rain puddles and the clay bowls crafted in the tradition of Korean mahksabal ceramics in Luc Druez's installation.
