Massive Bicycle Park at Schneeberg: €2.6 million Investment for Thrilling Adventure
The picturesque town of Loesheim in Lower Austria is gearing up for an exciting new chapter, as construction on the highly-anticipated Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg begins on May 12th. This innovative mountain biking destination is poised to propel leisure tourism on the highest mountain in the region into a new era, providing a significant boost to the local economy and sustainably strengthening the area.
The Bikepark, expected to open in spring 2026, will offer a thrilling experience for both experienced downhill mountain bikers and families with children. The course, spanning 15 kilometres, will feature seven trails of varying difficulty levels, catering to a wide range of skills.
By 2028, the Bikepark will see the addition of a jump line, more trails, and a second freeride track, ensuring a continually evolving and exciting experience for bikers. For those who need equipment, bikes, or even courses, the Shop&Rent, located within the station building at the valley station of the Schneeberg chairlift, will provide all the necessary amenities.
The Shop&Rent offer will gradually expand until 2028, with the opening of a flow line and a "Kids&Skills Area" in spring 2026, covering the first 10 kilometres of trails. Two hotels in the region, Schneeberghof and Forellenhof, will also transform into "Bike Hotels," catering specifically to the needs of bikers.
Deputy Governor Udo Landbauer, who will be appointed as manager of the Schneeberg chairlift and Schneebergbahn starting in November 2023, expresses great enthusiasm about the positive impact of the Bikepark on the local economy and tourism. He expects an influx of visitors, with approximately 25,000 visitors and up to 5,000 additional overnight stays per year in the first three years.
The total investment for the construction of the Bikepark is 2.6 million euros, a testament to the commitment to providing a world-class biking experience. With the Alpen Bikepark Schneeberg, Loesheim is set to become a must-visit destination for mountain biking enthusiasts, promising plenty of thrills and contributing to the growth and prosperity of the region.
