Luxury Watch Launch Soars Birds in Urushi Sky: Credor's Goldfeather Tourbillon

The Japanese watchmaking industry has taken a significant step forward with the unveiling of the Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Limited Edition GBCF999. This masterpiece, produced by Seiko-owned Credor, is a testament to the fusion of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern mechanical watch expertise.

The Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF999 is a limited edition, with only ten examples being made. It boasts a water resistance of 30m and is housed in a polished solid platinum case, measuring 38.6mm in diameter and just 8.6mm thick. The dial, a masterpiece of Japanese traditional crafts, features a jet-black urushi lacquer base adorned with an intricate bird motif created by master artisan Isshu Tamura.

The watch's heart is the in-house Caliber 6850 manual-wind tourbillon movement, an evolution of Credor's 2016-introduced Caliber 6830. The updated movement now boasts a 60-hour power reserve due to an enlarged mainspring barrel. The tourbillon on the Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF999 continually rotates, representing radiant solar energy.

The tourbillon bridge is shaped like a bird in flight with outstretched wings, and gold flecks surround the aperture to create a sun-like effect. The flock of birds on the dial appears to soar from the tourbillon aperture at 9 o'clock toward the Credor logo at 12.

The back of the watch features hand-engraved feather patterns and a greenish-blue feather made from yakougai (green turban snail shell). The watch is completed with a black crocodile leather strap and a matching platinum three-fold clasp.

Each piece of mother-of-pearl used on the dial varies in thickness and color, adding to the watch's unique character. The Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF999 is the first Goldfeather model to house a complication, marking a new chapter in the legacy of this iconic watch.

The retail price in Europe for this collector’s item is set at €190,000, reflecting its exclusivity and the immense work involved in its creation. The Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF999 will be available starting in October. This limited edition piece represents Japan’s unique contribution to luxury watchmaking on a global scale, combining advanced mechanical precision with traditional Japanese lacquer artistry and hand engraving.
