Resurgence of the Hunted-by-Fire Book Booth in Nieder-Roden
Library in Nieder-Roden refurbished before local event, now glows anew
A popular community book booth in Nieder-Roden had a fiery setback on New Year's Eve, leaving it blemished and lifeless. But fear not, the sprightly legion of youngsters from "Rodgau 16 Plus" orientation project, financially backed by the European Social Fund and the state of Hesse, have breathed new life into this beloved book exchange kiosk for the upcoming city festival.
Rinse, Wipe, and Shine
The ambitious youngsters of the project tackled the complete restoration of the dilapidated phone booth. First, they put the wreckage under the power wash, scoured off the damage, applied a fresh coat of paint, and fitted the cabin with a sturdy new door and tinted glass. The glass was custom made, cut to size, and firmly sealed by skilled professionals.
The Town's Applause
The renovation received a warm welcome from the locals. Folks passing by lauded the embargoed labor of the youths, while some even offered to lend a helping hand. Originally, this humble book booth was a heartfelt gift to the town from Alexa, Sophia, Nicole, and Nikos Stergiou. The bayonet commemorating their kindness will be lovingly resecured to the booth.
The Town Needs Readers
Unfortunately, the entire collection of books in the kiosk was engulfed by the fire and smothered by the extinction efforts. So, the city of Rodgau now requests the residents to donate books to restock the kiosk. The objective is to revive the popular free book exchange in the communal space, just in time for the city festival, during which the gloriously revamped book booth will be unveiled to the whole town.
