Klipsch Renews Iconic American Audio Piece with Future-Proof Klipschorn AK7, Updating Design for Modern Audiophiles

Introducing the Klipschorn AK7: A Modern Classic

The Klipsch brand has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Klipschorn AK7, a speaker that seamlessly blends tradition with innovation. This new addition to the Klipsch family retains the iconic design elements of its predecessor, the AK6, while incorporating significant improvements that enhance sound quality and efficiency.

The Klipschorn AK7 boasts a striking resemblance to the '50s with its gray mesh over the horns, a nod to the original Klipschorn design. However, it's not just about aesthetics. The AK7 has undergone a transformation in its mid-range horn design and efficiency, optimizing sound quality and presence.

At the heart of the AK7 is a new K-406M patented Tractrix® mid-range horn with a shorter 2-inch throat. This design improvement delivers better presence and precision in the midrange frequencies, improving the speaker's efficiency by more effectively coupling the driver to the listening environment. The result is clearer and more focused sound.

The AK7 continues to utilise high-efficiency horn-loading principles, a hallmark of Klipsch speakers, which historically allow Klipschorns to achieve very high sensitivity. This, combined with the refined horn technology, further enhances the classic horn-loaded efficiency and dynamic sound signature of the Klipschorn line.

The new input design of the AK7 is more flexible, allowing users to switch between passive and active setups. This future-proofs the AK7, enabling upgrades without the need for a complete speaker replacement.

The AK7 is available in three classic finishes: American Walnut, American Auburn, and Black Ash, maintaining a vintage aesthetic. In addition to the mid-range KT-1133-HP 3-inch compression drivers, the AK7 also includes the K-406, a mid-range exponential Tractrix horn with MUMPS technology for improved sound dispersion and coverage.

The AK7 delivers crystal clear sound with minimal distortion across the frequency spectrum, boasting a power of 100W (continuous). With a frequency response of 34Hz-19kHz (+/- 4 dB), the AK7 covers a wide range of frequencies, ensuring an immersive audio experience.

Weighing in at 260lbs, the AK7 is a substantial speaker, reflecting the quality of its components. The AK7 retails for $17,998 for a set of two, making it a significant investment for audiophiles seeking the ultimate listening experience.

First conceived by Paul W. Klipsch in 1938, the Klipschorn speaker was designed to reproduce accurate bass response. The Klipschorn AK7 is an updated version of the AK6 from 2018, featuring improved mid-range KT-1133-HP 3-inch compression-based units. The Klipschorn AK7 stands at 53.25" tall and has been a part of the Klipsch lineup since its initial release in 1946, marking the beginning of the "hi-fidelity" era of home speakers.

In summary, the Klipschorn AK7 optimizes speaker efficiency and sound quality by incorporating a new patented Tractrix mid-range horn with a shorter throat, continuing to use high-efficiency horn-loading principles, building upon the AK6's improvements in component quality and cabinet design, and featuring a flexible new input design. These design enhancements combine to make the Klipschorn AK7 a more precise and efficient speaker while maintaining the legendary dynamic and open sound characteristic of the Klipschorn line.

The Klipschorn AK7, with its vintage aesthetic, is not only a visual tribute to the '50s but also a technological marvel, blending style and lifestyle in the realm of home-and-garden technology. The new Tractrix mid-range horn and the flexibility of its input design make the AK7 a future-proof entertainment system, ready to adapt to advancements in technology.
