Jana Ina and Giovanni: A Unstoppable Power Couple Celebrating 20 Years

Veteran Professionals Band Together for Long-Term Project - Investigators Unveil Two Decades of Work: A Long-Spanning Investigation Revealed

20 years of marital bliss, two teenagers, hectic schedules - yet Jana Ina (48) and Giovanni Zarrella (47) manage to keep each other close. "We're each other's number one cheerleaders. No competition, just mutual support," Jana Ina reveals, chatting during a shoot for energy provider Eon at the Testing Lab in Essen.

Their harmonious family life, however, is far from tranquil. Between shows, broadcasts, and school events, their calendars are bursting at the seams. But, with a shared family calendar and dedicated personal time, they prevent chaos from taking over. Family is priority: "We want to be present for our kids' special moments - we'll catch up on sleep later!"

Planning for the Big 2-0 on Their 20th Anniversary

August marks their 20th wedding anniversary, but concrete plans are nowhere in sight for the Zarrellas. As they usually go with the flow, no big surprises are expected, according to Jana Ina. "Right now, we’re just living one day at a time. But we'll figure it out!"

Even though their lives are largely public, they understand the boundaries between their professional and private lives. "I let the world see a glimpse of our daily life on Instagram, make jokes about life as parents of teens. But the kids are off-limits and that's respected," Jana Ina explains.

Jana Ina and Giovanni's openness extends beyond their online presence. "People treat us like friends or neighbors. My husband jams with every baker, serenades them, cracks jokes. As long as they're friendly, we are too!"

The duo's teamwork extends beyond parenting and scheduling. They're also a dynamic duo when it comes to energy efficiency: "He keeps tabs on the smart tariffs so my car can charge when it's cheapest. I make sure lights are off and devices are unplugged," Jana Ina states during the video shoot about the energy transition, shot with Eon Germany CEO Filip Thon. The kids get involved, too, often reminding their parents to conserve energy.

Sustainability: A Way of Life

For Jana Ina, sustainability is a natural family practice. Her first step was trading her hybrid for a fully electric car, with solar panels on the horizon. "We saw them at a neighbor's, and we thought, 'That looks great!'" she recalls. "On walks, I'd research the benefits of solar-powered charging for my car. I thought the charging box was broken at first. But now I know: the car charges at night when demand is lower - that's smart for the environment and my wallet." Giovanni approves. "He's the thrifty Swabian I married!" laughs Jana Ina.

They ensure their home isn't wasting energy. "Phones don’t need to be charging all day. Plug it in when you need it," she suggests. "Saving energy and helping the environment - it's a team effort!"

For the concerned parent and media personality, being a role model for sustainability is important, and she believes every family should do their part. "Small actions add up to a significant impact by the end of the year. Let's change together!"
