Kaiserswerth Shooting Festival Celebrates Tradition and Community

The annual Kaiserswerth Shooting Festival, a cherished local event in Düsseldorf, Germany, took place from Friday to Sunday this month. Despite a somewhat uncertain weather forecast for Sunday, the festival was marked by a series of significant events and celebrations.

The festivities began on Saturday with the grand parade and procession in honour of the reigning majesties. The parade included the shooters, carnivalists of the Kaiserswerther KG with their dance guard, and the Aquila Dance Team. The procession made its way through the town, culminating in front of the town hall where the Kaiserswerth shooters gathered with friends from Wittlaer and Lohausen.

The high mass in the basilica took place before the shooting competition to determine the new majesties. In a memorable moment, Christian Kruger from the Suitbertus company was crowned as the new king, and Sabrina Kruger, his wife, was crowned as the new queen.

The competition itself saw the Suitbertus company prove to be extremely accurate, demonstrating their skill and dedication to the tradition. The inspection of the assembled shooters was conducted by Christian van de Locht, Julia Henrichs, Torben Helfen, Justus Brokatzky, Ansgar Barsch, and Finn Frankenheim.

Torben Helfen and Sophie were crowned as the new crown prince couple during the festival. The coronation was followed by the crowning of the new Student Prince Alexander von Knoop and Finn Frankenheim as the new Little Shooter King in the festival tent by the Rhine.

The Little Shooters, the youth of Kaiserswerth, celebrated their 100th anniversary during the festival, adding an extra layer of historical significance to the celebrations.

The festival concluded on Sunday evening with the coronation and final tattoo. Brother Master Ulrich Micke, who was present at the festival, announced his intention to step down at the next election.

Throughout the festival, the weather was perfect summer weather, providing a fitting backdrop to the festivities. Photos from the gallery can be ordered by sending an email with the picture numbers to media@ourwebsite. A donation is appreciated for ordering pictures from the gallery.
