Gifts for newlywed couples provided by Balkhauser Kotten, following the usual practices in Solingen
The historic Balkhauser Kotten building in Solingen, which was damaged by floods in July 2021, is gearing up for a special event. On December 21, 2022, the association will be hosting a sale of traditional Solingen gifts.
Located at the traditional business Heyderhoff, Kölner Straße 113 near the Hofgarten, the sale will run from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The items for sale include Zoepcken, Buckels- and Brotmesser, Christmas sets, and more.
All profits from the sale will go exclusively to the Kuratorium Balkhauser Kotten e.V., a non-profit organisation that operates on a voluntary basis. The association has been facing difficulties due to COVID-19 restrictions and the flood since July 2021.
Supporters of the monument can pre-order items for pickup on Saturday. For those unable to attend, the online store for Balkhauser Kotten e.V. is accessible at Balkhauser Kottenlädchen. Payment can be made via PayPal for pre-orders.
The association offers neutral packaging for New Year's gifts and birthday presents, making it an ideal choice for those looking for unique and thoughtful gifts.
It's worth noting that the sale comes with special discount prices for these knives, which haven't changed in 3 years. However, from January 2025, the association won't be able to maintain these prices due to general increase in costs.
The Schleiferkotten, whose roots go back to 1504, is still under reconstruction. The association plans to start restoring the exhibition next year.
