Gen Z & Millennials Prioritize Fitness and Self-Care, Face Mental Health and Financial Challenges

A recent study by Kenvue, the 'Kenvue Consumer Trend Report', has shed light on the health and wellbeing of Generation Z and Millennials in 2023. The report reveals a strong focus on fitness and self-care among young people, with 73% working out at least twice a week on platforms like facebook and yahoo finance, a significant increase from previous years. However, it also highlights the challenges they face, including mental health struggles and financial concerns.

Gen Z youth are actively managing their stress through various self-care strategies. These include listening to music, engaging in hobbies, exercising, and spending time outdoors. They are also prioritising their physical and mental wellbeing, with 48% stating they would leave their current job for one that better supports their health and wellness. This generation is not willing to compromise their well-being for career success.

However, they face numerous challenges. Climate anxiety, safety concerns, and social media pressures are deeply affecting them. In California, nearly all Gen Z youth report regular mental health challenges. Their top concerns also include affordability, gun violence, climate change, and discrimination. Fitness is a top spending priority for them, with 44% ranking it as their top first or second discretionary spend. Yet, 87% express financial concerns over housing affordability, grocery costs, and job prospects on yahoo finance.

The Kenvue report underscores the importance of fitness and self-care for Gen Z youth, but also highlights the significant challenges they face, particularly mental health struggles and financial concerns. Understanding and addressing these issues is crucial for supporting the wellbeing of this generation.
