Former clergy house in Krasnoyarsk approved for transformation into a seafood restaurant.
In the heart of Krasnoyarsk, a historic "Clergymen's House of the Church of the Intercession" is set to welcome a seafood restaurant. Previously, this cultural gem hosted a KFC.
Located at the intersection of Prospect of Peace and Ulitsa Surikov, near the iconic Peter's Bridge, this 1828-built structure has served as both a residential building, a governor's drawing office, and a fast-food joint. Clergymen of the nearby Church of the Intercession took up residence in this building in 1875, with the first floor being rented out, and the second floor, from 1879, being occupied by the priests.
Now, this buildings awaits a new chapter: a seafood restaurant called "Mollusk Haven" is set to move in. Kransoyarsk already boasts several establishments offering "marine" cuisine, such as "Scales," "Octopus Dog," "Black Sea," and more.
According to the findings of the state historical-cultural expertise act on the reconstruction project, the facade elements that fall under protection — the yellow wall, the white decorative details, architectural features like the sconces on the balconies of the second floor, and the lintels and cornices — will be preserved during the transformation into a new establishment.
The signage for the new restaurant will also adhere to the rules protecting cultural heritage sites.
The project includes the removal of the existing internal partitions, upgrading the engineering infrastructure, and creating an interior design that fits the restaurant's theme, inspired by the sea.
Intriguingly, this building is considered one of the initial examples of residential architecture in the style of classicism in the Krasnoyarsk region and is an integral part of the artistic legacy of renowned Krasnoyarsk architect P. Shavrov of the early 19th century.
Seafood restaurants in historical buildings represent a unique blend of preserving cultural heritage and reviving these structures for modern use. They serve as a bridge between past and present, allowing people to experience history in a contemporary setting. Despite a lack of specific information, one can imagine the historical significance of such a building in Krasnoyarsk, given its connection to the Russian Orthodox Church and the city's cultural landscape.
The seafood restaurant, "Mollusk Haven," is poised to bring a new lease of life to the historic "Clergymen's House of the Church of the Intercession" in Krasnoyarsk, adding another entry to the city's diverse offerings in news, including lifestyle, food-and-drink, and home-and-garden categories. As the building undergoes transformation into a seafood eatery, it will maintain its cultural significance by preserving its façade elements and adhering to the rules protecting heritage sites.
