Five restaurants in Krasnoyarsk have made it to the shortlist for the WHERETOEAT restaurant award.

In the year 2025, five Krasnoyarsk eateries have made their way onto the WhereToEat shortlist once again. Uh, yep, most of these restaurants have been here before, you feel me?

The WhereToEat award, a thing that's been dishing out accolades to Russian gastronomic joints since 2013, recently unveiled the latest batch of contenders on March 25th.

Representing Krasnoyarsk this time around are 0.75 Please Wine & Kitchen, SADKO, Hello Wine, Tunguska, and "Чешуя."

A quick shout-out: It seems the 2025 shortlist is devoid of Novosibirsk and Irkutsk establishments, and just one eastern region, besides Krasnoyarsk, makes an appearance — Vladivostok, with three restaurants getting a nod.

As for why Krasnoyarsk nabbed so many spots, well, I ain't got the inside scoop on that. The jury's still out on why Novosibirsk and Irkutsk didn't make the cut. And, to be honest, without insider access or a peek at the judging criteria, we can't draw any solid conclusions about regional gaps in the industry.

But hey, maybe Krasnoyarsk eateries are just cooking it up better, or maybe folks there are really vocal about their favorite spots. Or, who knows, perhaps the local restaurants are really good at their own marketing and promotion. In the world of awards, it's all about hype, baby!

Now, if you wanna know the why's and how's of the WhereToEat awards, y'all should probably reach out to them or dig a little deeper. The current Social Media posts only confirm regional shortlists exist, but that's about it. It doesn't exactly enlighten us on why certain regions are more represented than others, nor why specific joints are picked over others.

Until then, all we can do is sit back, sip our drinks, and (hopefully) keep our tastebuds pleased at these award-winning eateries!

(P.S. If you're curious about their selection process, it might involve community nominations, as seen with The Good Food Guide's Best Local Restaurants nominations[2].)
