Fireworks Festivities: Unite and Enjoy - Sparkling Displays in Altenbeken near May 1st
On the 3rd of May, 2025, Altenbeken will host a special event - the Florian's Mass. This ecumenical service, honouring Saint Florian, the patron saint of the fire department, will take place at the fire equipment house in Altenbeken at 5:00 PM. The event promises an entertaining afternoon for families, with a colourful program that includes music, demonstrations, and play opportunities for the youngest guests.
The music for the afternoon will be provided by the Bundesschützen Garde Musikkorps Schwaney, while the Bahn-Orchester Altenbeken 1919 e.V. will musically accompany the service. The youth fire brigade will perform a demonstration, and the TUS Dance group will present their dance choreographies.
On the same day, an oldtimer tractor procession will start in the afternoon, captivating with nostalgic charm. Tractor enthusiasts are invited to participate with their vehicles, with a return to the festival site planned for 2:00 PM.
A week earlier, on May 1st, the community of Schwaney will host the Association Tree Setting on the community square. The music group "De Hämelschen" will musically accompany the establishment of the club tree in Schwaney. Culinary delights will be provided by a food mile, offering coffee, cake, "Schinderhannes" steaks, burgers, and other delicacies.
A special highlight of the event is the duck race of the youth fire brigade, with participants winning attractive prizes. Ducks can be purchased in advance on April 26th, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, at three locations: Frischemarkt Schwaney, Combi Buke, and the Sauerwald gas station in Altenbeken. Participation in the duck race costs 3 euros per duck, with proceeds going entirely to the youth work of the fire department.
For those seeking refreshments, a wide selection of drinks will be available, offered together with the inclusive brewery Josefsbrau. Catering will be available during the event, offering a chance for meeting, exchange, and community.
