Festival Waste Reduction: Official Launch of Bremen's Multi-Functional Dishwasher for Event Use

In the heart of Bremen, Germany, a new initiative is making waves in the event industry. The city has introduced a mobile dishwashing unit, designed to reduce single-use items and waste at concerts and events. This innovative project is part of the Bremen Mehrweg Roadmap, a comprehensive plan that provides concrete proposals for using reusable items.

The mobile dishwashing unit, affectionately named the Spülemobile, was officially presented on August 22, 2022. The acquisition of this eco-friendly marvel was made possible by a consortium of cultural and artistic creators, with the Cultural Department supporting the endeavour with 35,000 euros.

Culture Senator and Mayor Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, Environment Senator Kathrin Moosdorf, Manuel Jaenig from Musikszene Bremen e. V., and representatives of the Umwelt Unternehmen business unit and the Bündnis für Mehrweg were present at the launch.

The Spülemobile is a useful addition to existing offers for providing reusable items at events. It can clean reusable dishes on-site and immediately redistribute them, eliminating the need to transport dirty dishes off-site for washing. This not only saves time but also significantly reduces the environmental impact, as transporting dishes to service providers for washing would have a negative impact on the environmental balance.

The mobile dishwashing unit is suitable for events with up to 15,000 guests and is available for rental by social institutions, companies, schools, and associations. The rental fee for these groups is kept low to encourage widespread adoption.

The demand for the Spülemobile is already high, even from organizers of smaller events such as flea markets. Event organizers should find it easy to provide a well-functioning reusable item offer with the mobile dishwashing unit.

This initiative is a significant step towards the overarching goal to make reusable items possible wherever possible in Bremen. By using efficient water and energy-saving dishwashing machines, the Spülemobile contributes to sustainability efforts in the city, reducing single-use waste and related garbage disposal impact.

If you're planning an event in Bremen and are interested in renting the Spülemobile, you can search for event service companies specializing in sustainable event equipment rentals, look for local eco-friendly catering and event rental services that offer mobile dishwashing options, or contact local event venues or sustainability organizations for recommendations.

This news marks an exciting step forward in Bremen's commitment to sustainability, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact the Spülemobile will have on events in the city.
