Doug Gorham Pursues Photography at Vandenberg Space Force Base

Doug Gorham, a former Navy serviceman with a background in journalism, is now focusing his talents on capturing sporting events at the Vandenberg Space Force Base. Gorham plans to cover intramural sports such as basketball and football, aiming to provide visual stories that showcase the spirit and camaraderie of the players.

Gorham's passion for photography was first sparked during his basic training in the Navy. After his Navy career, he was drawn to pursue photography further and enrolled in the Sessions Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Photography program. This decision has allowed him to develop his technical expertise and artistic ability in various photography genres.

In the Sessions program, Gorham found Landscape Photography, taught by Taz Tally, to be his favorite course. He appreciates the knowledge and skills he gained from this course, which has equipped him to take stunning landscape photographs at different locations. His images from this course were even selected for and appeared in the Sessions Student Gallery.

Gorham has also been honing his post-production skills, learning Lightroom Classic and Photoshop to produce high-quality images. These skills have been instrumental in his work, as he aims to deliver the best possible photographs to his clients.

One of Gorham's favorite stories he wrote was about the Imperial Beach Pier in San Diego, published in San Diego Family Magazine. He has also provided photographs to accompany stories he wrote for the Navy. Recently, Gorham photographed the trophy presentation at the end of the competition at the Vandenberg Space Force Base.

In addition to his work at the base, Gorham has done volunteer work, covering intramural sports games and providing portraits of top athletes. He plans to continue this work, as well as travel and take landscape photographs at various locations.

In his free time, Doug Gorham enjoys capturing the natural beauty of various landscapes, a skill he mastered in his Landscape Photography course at the Sessions Undergraduate Certificate in Digital Photography program, which he finds a pleasant deviation from his main focus on sports photography at the home-and-garden setting of Vandenberg Space Force Base. As he continues to expand his portfolio, Doug Gorham looks forward to integrating his home-and-garden photography into his lifestyle, showcasing the diverse elements of both his career and personal interests.
