Eco-friendly fashion: Tips on style and color choices for shopping at your green store
In the heart of Wiesbaden, the Umweltladen (Environmental Store) is making waves in the fashion industry by offering a series of workshops focused on sustainable clothing and wardrobe management. The latest workshop, held on August 13, 2025, marked the beginning of a new era in sustainable fashion.
The events, which include style and color consultations, a jeans makeover event, and workshops such as "Minimalism in the Closet" and the Clothing Swap Bar, are designed to help individuals make sustainable fashion choices and avoid impulse purchases. These sessions emphasize examining one’s wardrobe, learning about cuts, colors, and sustainable shopping sources in small groups for personalized advice.
Ulrike Schmidt, a style expert, is at the forefront of these initiatives. She is helping individuals give their closets a sustainable makeover, offering style and color consultation at the environmental store on Luisenstraße on September 1, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. The consultation, priced at 10 euros, promises to provide honest answers and practical tips for a chic closet detox.
The Clothing Swap Bar and the workshop "Minimalism in the Closet" are scheduled for September 29 in conjunction with Hesse's Day of Sustainability. These events aim to provide solutions for sustainable fashion choices and wardrobe management. The Clothing Swap Bar allows participants to exchange clothing items, while the workshop "Minimalism in the Closet" will teach minimalists how to get by with fewer than 40 pieces.
A jeans makeover event will take place at the environmental store on December 10. Tools for altering jeans will be available, allowing participants to breathe new life into their favourite denim pieces. Ulrike Schmidt will also demonstrate how to make favourite pieces the everyday heroes of a wardrobe.
The environmental office, Fridays for Future Wiesbaden, and Atelier O18 are organising these events. The Umweltladen, conveniently located near the Luisenplatz public transport stop, is open Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesday, Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments or questions can be arranged by calling +49 611 313600.
