Düsseldorf took a significant step forward in its mission to improve urban mobility and reduce car dependency with the inauguration of the 22nd Mobility Station on Bankstraße, Pempelfort. The event, held on April 11, was attended by District Mayor Annette Klinke and members of BV1, as well as representatives from Connected Mobility Düsseldorf GmbH (CMD) and car-sharing provider Cambio.

The new mobility station is a hub of sustainable transport options, featuring a bike station with 14 bike racks, four car-sharing parking spots from Cambio (two of which are electrified), an electric charging station, and three planted tubs with seating elements. In addition, a bike repair station catering to bikes, strollers, and more is available to ensure smooth journeys for all.

As part of the event, CMD organized various activities, including a musical program, a balloon artist, a lucky wheel action, a coffee bike, and pastries, transforming the occasion into a neighborhood festival and celebration for the residents. Visitors appreciated the improved stay quality at the new mobility station on Friday afternoon.

The Bankstraße project, totalling around 416,000 euros, was funded by the European Union and the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The bike station also includes a bike station with eight parking spots, seating elements, and new greenery at the corner of Bank- and Schwerinstraße.

In the districts of Pempelfort, Derendorf, and Golzheim, a total of 18 mobility stations are planned to be created in the coming years. The station on Bankstraße marks the eighth in these districts, with 10 more stations scheduled for construction.
