Downtown Seattle's PCC Community Markets Shares Its Launch Date for New Store

In the heart of Seattle, PCC Community Markets is set to reopen its downtown location on July 15, 2025, following a period of reconfiguration. The store, now rebranded as PCC Corner Market, will be found at 4th Avenue and Union.

The reopening marks a new chapter in bringing fresh, local foods to Downtown Seattle's residents and workers. The store's smaller scale is designed to meet the needs of commuters, visitors, and local residents during the weekday.

Eli Dorr-Fay, a longtime PCC employee, has been named store manager. The store will offer deli products from the PCC Market Kitchen, a hot bar, salad bar, fresh sushi, an assortment of beer and wine, everyday grocery staples, and essentials.

PCC Community Markets, founded in Seattle in 1953, runs 15 stores in the Pacific Northwest. Last year, the co-op turned a modest profit after a difficult 2023, with net sales rising 3.1% during the latest fiscal year, reaching $449.9 million.

The grand opening of the PCC Corner Market next month will include live music, free samples, and giveaways to the first 50 shoppers. The store will serve shoppers Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Fred Meyer is expanding organic recycling to all stores across the Pacific Northwest. Elsewhere, Natural Grocers is opening an outpost in New Mexico, while Price Rite is opening a store in the former Ollie's location in Waterbury, Conn., scheduled to open in Fall 2025. Stater Bros. is opening a new supermarket in Greenspot Crossings in Highland, SoCal.

Notably, PCC Community Markets was named one of Progressive Grocer's Outstanding Independents for 2025. The original store closed in late 2023 after two years in business due to challenges in that urban area. However, the rebranding as "PCC Corner Market" suggests a focused format possibly adapted for the downtown market, although specific detailed changes in the store layout or offerings at this reconfigured location are not explicitly detailed.

Srinivasan, the CEO of PCC Community Markets, stated that each store strives to reflect the communities they serve, and spotlighting local talent brings a sense of connection and inspiration to the shopping experience. The reopening of the PCC Corner Market underscores this commitment, as it aims to serve the needs of the downtown Seattle community in a way that resonates with its unique character.

  1. The reopening of PCC Corner Market in July will cater to Downtown Seattle's residents and workers, offering a lifestyle that integrates food-and-drink options such as deli products, hot and salad bars, sushi, beer, wine, and grocery essentials.
  2. Residing at the heart of the city, PCC Corner Market's home-and-garden section remains to be seen, but the store's rebranding and focus on community connection imply a curated selection to resonate with the downtown Seattle community's unique character.
