Decorated Christmas tree within Kaarster municipal building
In the charming town of Kaarst, Germany, the Protestant and Catholic churches have joined forces for a heartwarming initiative called the Wish Tree action. This unique project aims to bring joy to the faces of adults who may not receive gifts at Christmas, often the elderly or disabled.
The Wish Tree action, which has been running successfully for 16 years in Kaarst, is more than just a decorative feature during the festival season. It fosters community spirit, bringing people together and creating a joyful and hopeful atmosphere.
Mayor Ursula Baum has shown her support for the Wish Tree action, picking wish cards from the tree. She hopes for many participants this year, as the action has expanded to include adult wishes since 2021.
Participants can take a card with a wish, fulfill it, and deliver the beautifully wrapped gift. In exceptional cases, gifts can be received at the Kaarst town hall information desk. The "Kaarster helfen" association has cooperated with the Wish Tree initiative since 2021, replacing the previous shoebox action for adults.
The wishes on the Wish Tree are often modest, reflecting the simple joys that can bring significant happiness to those in need. The Gaspers family has managed the Wish Tree action voluntarily since its beginning.
For those interested in participating, the dates for receiving gifts at the town hall are Friday, December 8, from 2-5 pm, Thursday, December 14, from 5-7 pm, and Saturday, December 16, from 10 am - 2 pm. For more information, contact Sigrid Hecker at Tel. 02131 / 98 75 22 or [email protected].
The gifts are then distributed to the recipients during a festival, adding a touch of magic and togetherness to the celebrations. The Wish Tree action is a wonderful example of a community coming together to spread joy and kindness during the festive season.
The Wish Tree action, running for 16 years in Kaarst, not only embellishes the town during the festive season but also promotes a harmonious home-and-garden lifestyle by encouraging community members to fulfill the modest wishes of those in need, thereby fostering a joyful and hopeful lifestyle within the family and larger community.
In alignment with the Wish Tree action, the "Kaarster helfen" association, cooperating since 2021, strives to incorporate the simple joys of life into the lifestyle of the elderly and disabled adults, providing them with a touch of happiness that can significantly impact their family life.
