Country acknowledges the devotion of youth representatives in Rastatt
Rastatt's Unique Youth Delegation Empowering Local Youth
Rastatt, a town in southwest Germany, is home to a distinctive Youth Delegation that is making waves across the country. This unique body, which has no comparable concept in the entirety of Germany, is dedicated to advising on youth-related issues and participating in decision-making processes.
The Youth Delegation, led by Fabienne Rebsdat, the Youth Participation Officer in the Rastatt town hall, consists of approximately 25 energetic young people aged 14 and over. Political affiliation is not a prerequisite for involvement, and the delegation works in small groups on specific topics.
One of the delegation's most recent achievements was organising a successful event at the festival site, featuring a graffiti workshop, movement offers, and a DJ. The young participants were particularly enthusiastic about the graffiti workshop, where they colorfully designed a utility box at the festival site.
Annabelle, an 18-year-old member of the Rastatt Youth Delegation, praises the strong sense of community among the young people and appreciates that the city council and town hall employees value the opinions of young people. Nadia Lazar from the Service Office for Children and Youth Participation in Baden-Württemberg also praised the low-threshold offer of the Rastatt Youth Delegation.
The delegation's accomplishments extend beyond events and workshops. They were instrumental in establishing a calisthenics facility near the Murg, and their annual Youth Summit has been a notable success. In recognition of their commitment, the Service Office for Children and Youth Participation in Baden-Württemberg recently honoured the Rastatt Youth Delegation.
Participation in the Youth Delegation is open to all young people aged 14 to 20 living in Rastatt. A new term of office begins each autumn, offering an opportunity for new members to get involved. Domenik, a 17-year-old member of the Rastatt Youth Delegation, is involved in the partnership committee and seeks exchange with young people from Rastatt's partner cities.
Whether it's through community events, workshops, or advocating for youth-focused initiatives, the Rastatt Youth Delegation is making a significant impact in the lives of young people in the town and beyond. If you're between the ages of 14 and 20 and live in Rastatt, consider joining this unique and dynamic group. Your voice matters!
Other lifestyle opportunities are being explored by the Rastatt Youth Delegation, with a focus on home-and-garden projects that can engage the community's young members. For instance, they are planning a gardening workshop series to teach basic skills and encourage sustainable living practices among the youth.
