The Fiat Grande Panda, set to launch on September 17, 2025, is a compact SUV that pays homage to the brand's rich history while embracing modern technology.

The Grande Panda's exterior showcases a distinctly square appearance, with few curves and a high roof line that provides ample headroom, even in this small car. The plastic wheel arches break up the body-color flow, giving the model a rugged look. At the rear, high windows and cubed lights in a cross formation add a unique touch. A notable design feature is the Panda name stamped across the lower portion of the doors.

Inside, the retro design cues continue. The interior features an oval dashboard and center console designed in the shape of the Lingotto building's rooftop test track. Plenty of physical buttons, particularly for the climate control system, can be found, and the car offers ample door pockets in the front and rear. However, there is no floating element to the center console.

The Grande Panda is available as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) or a mild-hybrid (MHEV). The MHEV version is equipped with a 48-volt system, a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine, a 23kW e-motor, and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. This additional electric power helps the model achieve an estimated CO output of just 117g/km.

The electric powertrain of the Grande Panda has a 44kWh battery and delivers a driving range of 199 miles (320km) according to WLTP figures. The electric model has a top speed of 82mph and can accelerate from 0-62mph in around 11 seconds. The rear charging port allows for DC rapid charging up to 100kW, completing a charge in 27 minutes.

The interior of the electric Grande Panda also features sustainable materials. Fiat has used recycled material from 140 drinks cartons in each car. The top-range La Prima version of the Grande Panda uses Bambox, a fabric that is 33% made from pure bamboo fibres, for the dashboard.

The steering wheel in the Grande Panda is chunky and ergonomic, with a flat bottom and top for improved driver legroom. The seating in the Grande Panda is comfortable for both front and rear passengers, with the MHEV version providing more legroom for back-seat passengers.

The BEV and MHEV variants of the Grande Panda have similar designs, with a smooth lighting panel featuring an array of cube LED lights across the grill. The front charging port on the BEV variant opens to reveal the charging plug when the Fiat badge is popped. The front charging port can charge at up to 7kW, providing a 20% to 80% boost in four hours and 20 minutes.

In evaluations by Autovista Group experts, the Fiat Grande Panda was compared against its main competitors in Austria, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom before its market launch. However, the specific model evaluated was not identified in the provided search results.

In conclusion, the Fiat Grande Panda offers a unique blend of retro design and modern technology, making it an intriguing option for those seeking a compact SUV with a distinct personality.
