The picturesque town of Schmallenberg in Germany has welcomed a new addition to its cycling infrastructure – the ADAC Radservice-Station. This latest development is part of a nationwide initiative by ADAC to make cycling more suitable for daily life and holidays.

The new station, situated on a popular cycling path, is a strategic move towards a future-proof cycling region, aligning with soft tourism and active local mobility. The partnership between ADAC Westfalen and Schmallenberger Sauerland Tourismus has made it possible to establish the Radservice-Station in an important tourist center.

Thomas Frisse, tourism director at ADAC Westfalen, highlights the significance of the station, stating, "The Radservice-Station offers cyclists a low-threshold service where it's needed." The station, located at the Tourist Information Schmallenberg, is easily accessible and doesn't require an ADAC membership.

The ADAC Radservice-Station is more than just a repair station. It's a central hub for tourist and daily cycling use, equipped with a comprehensive toolkit including screwdrivers, Allen keys, tire levers, a pump with manometer, and a bicycle holder. QR codes with instructions are available for cyclists who need a bit of guidance.

Thomas Oehler, director of technology, traffic, and environment at ADAC Westfalen, underscores the importance of the station, emphasizing that it complements the ADAC bicycle breakdown service. The stations are manufactured in cooperation with the Caritas Betriebs- und Werkstätten GmbH in Eschweiler, and the tool equipment comes from the bicycle specialist supplier Bike-Components.

The goal is to improve the infrastructure for cyclists, enable uncomplicated help with breakdowns, and make the switch to the bicycle more attractive. Katja Lutter, managing director of Schmallenberger Sauerland Tourismus, explains, "The station improves the infrastructure for locals and guests and underscores our commitment to sustainable mobility in the region."

Around 35 locations are planned or already realized for 2025 alone in the region of ADAC Regionalclub Westfalen. The inauguration of the ADAC Radservice-Station in Schmallenberg is another piece of the puzzle for a future-proof cycling region, making it the perfect location at the Holz and Touristikzentrum, a place for service, culture, and activity.
