Commemorative Coins for the Troublesome Anniversary
A Unique Collaboration for Schloss Benrath Commemorative Mintings
In a recent development, the European Mint Company "EuroMint" has collaborated with the Stiftung Schloss und Park Benrath to create a unique set of commemorative mintings for Schloss Benrath in Düsseldorf.
The Baroque palace at Benrath was constructed between 1755 and 1773, with the interior and exterior work completed in 1771. However, it was unfortunate that the intended resident, Elisabeth Auguste, passed away before the castle was completed on March 1st, 1770.
The mintings, available in limited quantities, depict the main building of Schloss Benrath on one side and the pond and further building arrangement on the other. The fine gold version of the minting costs 999 euros, while the fine silver version costs 69 euros.
These special mintings have been immediately transferred to the Benrather Schloss collection. The first two coins were given to the foundation board in the cupola hall of the castle. The remaining mintings are now available for purchase in the museum shop at the castle or via the online site of the mint company.
Prof. Dr. Stefan Schweizer, the scientific director of the Stiftung Schloss und Park, oversaw this collaboration. The palace at Benrath was commissioned by Nicolas de Pigage, the court architect, and was intended as a retirement home for Elisabeth Auguste. The water games, ponds, and park facilities were completed after the castle.
It is essential to note that these pieces are collector's items with no nominal value. They are not intended for investment purposes. The mintings showcase the grandeur and beauty of Schloss Benrath, offering a tangible connection to this historical site for collectors and enthusiasts.
