Church's Innovative Sensory Convention Engrosses Attendance
In the heart of Cuenca, Spain, the ancient temple of San Miguel has been transformed into an immersive sensory experience known as Luz Cuenca. This multimedia exhibition showcases the cultural wealth of Cuenca, combining artistic lighting techniques, 2D and 3D projection mapping, and a dramatic orchestral music score, all powered by a high-quality KV2 sound system.
The sound system for Luz Cuenca comprises 12 EX26 two-way active loudspeaker systems, evenly distributed along the walls of the nave. These speakers are renowned for their ability to deliver high-quality, detailed, transparent sound at low Sound Pressure Levels (SPLs), making them ideal for the acoustically sensitive environment of the church.
The main objective for the audio system was to effectively and uniformly reproduce sound in space at low volumes. Jesús Catá, AV project engineer at Fluge, the company responsible for designing and supplying the sound system, confirmed this, stating that every detail of the music can be heard exactly as intended, even at low SPLs.
To reinforce the upper gallery level, two additional EX26s were added. For low-end reinforcement, eight EX1.5 subwoofers were strategically placed, with pairs either side of the altar and a further pair left and right slightly further down the nave.
The audio signals are sent via Dante from the Watchout 6 video playback system and are processed and distributed to the loudspeakers via NST Audio DSP matrices. Each loudspeaker in Luz Cuenca receives independent audio signals, ensuring a seamless and immersive audio experience.
Custom white housings were designed for all the loudspeakers to minimize interference with the video mapping. The system is capable of sounding just as good for events with higher SPL requirements, making it versatile for a variety of events.
While the exact reason why KV2 Audio products were chosen for Luz Cuenca is not specified in the current search results, it is clear that their ability to deliver high-quality sound at low SPLs was a key factor in their selection. The Luz Cuenca sound system will be used for other events with more demanding level requirements, demonstrating its versatility and effectiveness.
Ibercover Studio was in charge of production and content design for Luz Cuenca, ensuring a cohesive and visually stunning experience for visitors. The combination of the KV2 sound system with the multimedia elements creates an unforgettable sensory journey that highlights the cultural richness of Cuenca.
The Luz Cuenca sound system, featuring KV2 Audio products, promises a versatile and immersive audio experience for a variety of events, showcasing its potential for both home-and-garden gatherings and lifestyle occasions as well as cultural events like exhibitions and festivals. The high-fidelity features of the sound system ensure that each event's audio details are faithfully reproduced, contributing to an overall sensory experience that complements the visually stunning features of the temple-turned-exhibition.
