Esther Þorvaldsdóttir, one of the founders of Rights for Refugee Children, will be present at the event. This remarkable organization, established in Iceland in 2019, champions the rights of children seeking refuge, ensuring compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child by various state institutions. Unfortunately, despite the convention being legalized in Iceland, the organization regularly witnesses violations of children's rights.
"We're relentless in advocating for children's rights, especially in light of decisions that contradict the Child Rights Convention. Our focus lies primarily on the Icelandic government's adherence to the CRC and ensuring their regulations reflect our commitment to the treaty," said Þorvaldsdóttir. To achieve this, the organization provides legal assistance to refugee children, taking on precedent-setting cases to bring forth improvements in refugee rights.
Wolf, a unique piece crafted by Þorvaldur Jónsson, will be featured in the auction. Live musical performances will be provided by Ásgeir Trausti and Sigríður Thorlacius to enrich your art-filled day.
Many talented artists have generously contributed their work for the cause. Guest art enthusiasts can bid on works by esteemed artists such as Guðjón Ketilsson, Marit Trönqvist, Hallgrímur Helgason, Þrándur Þórarinsson, Tinna Þorvalds, Annadóttir, Baldur Helgason, Þorvaldur Jónsson, and Mireja Samper.
